How to look after your Premium Wax Floor

The rollers used in traditional car washes are highly abrasive. They cause micro-scratches (known as swirls) in the lacquer and strip away the protective wax layer after just a few washes. Always opt for hand washing to preserve the deep shine.

Use only pH-neutral car shampoos designed specifically for vehicles. Avoid household washing-up liquids or petrol station pressure washers containing harsh degreasers (cheap active foam). These chemicals act as stripping agents, instantly removing premium wax and leaving the paintwork exposed.

Never wash or dry the vehicle in direct sunlight or whilst the bodywork is still hot after driving. The water and shampoo will evaporate quickly, leaving limescale marks and stubborn streaks on the wax finish, which will ruin the glossy finish and silky feel.

Bird droppings, tree sap and squashed mosquitoes are highly acidic and corrosive. Although your wax provides an excellent initial protective barrier, these substances can penetrate it and damage the paintwork if left to dry for days. Remove them as soon as possible with a damp cloth.

To maximise the longevity of your wax finish over the months, we highly recommend applying a ‘Quick Detailer’ or quick-dry spray wax after a few washes. This simple step reinforces the protective layer, revives the water-repellent properties (lotus effect) and restores the extreme shine in spectacular fashion.

Drying is the stage where a car is most likely to get scratched. Forget about old leather chamois leathers or drying the car whilst it’s moving. Always use super-absorbent microfibre towels (heavyweight) and place them gently on the paintwork to absorb the water, taking care not to drag them across the surface and cause unnecessary friction.
